Balboa Park Picnic

So, the secrets out, we told you about Jen’s day job.  And what a job it is, the shows and people she is working with are spectacular!  So spectacular in fact that we thought of a genius idea, picnic in gorgeous Balboa Park, and then go see the Shakespeare festival at The Old Globe Theatre!  They are playing Richard III, As You Like it, and Inherit The Wind.  You can click HERE to buy tickets, and see below for our fun picnic finds and links to some yummy travel friendly recipes!

Um…can we discuss the elephant picnic basket!? Not the most practical, and super expensive, yes, I know.  But it had to be in the post. 😉

We found some yummy recipes from Real Simple, Martha Stewart, Country Living, and Williams-Sonoma.  Including a healthier version of fried chicken, pretzel-crusted “fried” chicken, which is actually baked, ha!

And, finally, we will leave you with this little picnic packing gem from Martha Stewart.  “You can use water bottles twice at a summer picnic, first as ice packs, then as thirst quenchers.  Before freezing, pour out about an inch of water to give the water room to expand.  The bottles help keep food chilled, but will thaw as the day goes on – leaving you with another round of cold drinks.”  Oh Martha, such a genius!

To picnic, or not to picnic, there is no question! … sorry, we had to.

LLLove,
Jen & Jess
