March Madness: Savory Rosemary Chex Mix

    March Madness has officially begun!  And although we love a good game, in all honesty we don’t know much about basketball.  What we do know though, is that we love themed party’s and food!  So Jess created this savory rosemary Chex mix recipe for Evite Gatherings, and we wanted to share it with you too!

    Jess took our Auntie Mae’s rosemary cashews recipe and created a Chex mix recipe that can also be gluten-free!  Just substitute the pretzels and bagel chips for gluten-free ones, and double check all herbs and spices to make sure of their gluten-free status. Ingredients:
  • 3 cups Rice Chex
  • 4 cups Corn Chex
  • 1 cup pretzels
  • 1 1/2 cups bagel chips
  • 2 cups unsalted cashews
  • 4 tablespoons minced fresh rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 teaspoons light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Step 2: Mix Chex, pretzels, cashews, and bagel chips in a bowl. Cover a large cookie sheet with aluminum foil, pour dry ingredients on the sheet, and set aside.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, mix melted butter, rosemary, cayenne pepper, brown sugar, and salt.
Step 4: Pour butter mixture over dry ingredients on your cookie sheet, making sure to stir/fold to coat the dry cereal mix.
Step 5: Place cookie sheet in preheated oven and cook for 1 hour.
Step 6: Allow Chex mix to cool before eating. Store in an airtight container, and enjoy!
    This savory snack is great for any get together, but we especially love it for watching sports!  Ironically our mother is the basketball fan, so we’ll make sure she has something delicious to snack on during March Madness!
