To Write Love on Her Arms
I was recently introduced to a non-profit company called To Write Love on Her Arms or TWLOHA. I was instantly struck by the movement and the story that started it (full story here, be warned I cried the entire way through it). “To write love on her arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and to invest directly into treatment and recovery.”
They have many different ways you can get involved: purchasing from their apparel line, joining a “UChapter” (college chapter), interning, joining a street team, or just spreading the word of hope to those who need it.
All people wear their scars differently, some show on the outside, and other’s hide them within. So write love on her arms, his arms, your arms. Write it until it reaches the heart and you believe that you’re worth it, and know that you are loved.
If you, or anyone you know, is struggling with depression or addiction, please have the strength to ask for help, and know that you are not alone. There is hope.
