Sweets & Sips Summer White Party with Magnum Ice Cream

    We love a good white party, it makes for very pretty pictures when all the guests are coordinated! πŸ˜‰  When Magnum Ice Cream asked us to do a sponsored posted centered around Magnum Bars and summer entertaining, we thought a Sweets & Sips Summer White Party would be the perfect choice!  We paired the gourmet taste of Magnum with exciting toppings and decadent drinks.  Invite your friends over for a sunset, dessert, and cocktail party…what better way to cool down on those hot summer nights?

The Sweets:

    Our “Ice Cream Bar” sign was made out of kraft letters and foam board (tutorial here DIY Glitter Foam Letters).  Our party was photographed by the lovely and talented Brooke McDougal, of Brooke Aliceon Photography, and our beautiful linens were courtesy of the wonderful Concepts Event Design.

    We made this giant Ice Cream Bar out of foam board, glitter, and card stock! I promise we did not try to eat it.  The Magnum Ice Cream tasted way better anyway. πŸ˜‰

    We made a sign to instruct guests what to do.  We made a simple DIY Dipping Bar, with gold and white take out boxes.  Guests were instructed to choose a box, select their Ice Cream Bar (either Belgian White Chocolate or Sea Salt Caramel Swirl), fill their dipping box with delicious toppings, and dip away!
  
    It was delicious!
    Little takeout boxes made for a chic, and mess free, way to eat your ice cream bar, as well as easy clean up for the host!

    Our “dipping bar” consisted of “white” and “gold” sweets like yogurt covered pretzels, salted caramel, mini marshmallows, coconut and more.  Get all the supplies you need to through your one Summer White Party at your nearest Kroger store!

    The guys where very happy to join in the festivities, especially when they heard there would be ice cream!

The Sips:

    We stocked the bar with straws, napkins, and plenty of glasses for our guests.  Premixed drinks are key for stress free hosting, so we premixed our “Banana Split Martini” and chilled it in the fridge before serving.  We also left our beer and bubbly on ice, so guests could help themselves to refreshments!

    We made a pairing menu highlighting which ice cream bars paired best with which beverage!  We gave an option for the Belgian White Chocolate bar, the Sea Salt Caramel Swirl bar, and a beverage that paired well with both bars.
    Everyone had such a blast tasting their ice cream bars with the specialty drinks!  It was like a mini dessert and cocktail tasting!  Two of our favorite things.

    A great party tip, is to leave a box of extra glasses underneath your bar table (it helps if you have a linen).  That way you can restock the bar quickly and smoothly if you find yourself running low on glasses.

    The boys were BIG fans of the beer pairing.  We found a perfect light beer at our local Karl Strauss brewery called Windansea Wheat!  It’s banana and clove flavors paired perfectly with either ice cream bar!

    Instead of bottles, we bought a few growlers, it’s cheaper, and cleaner than a bunch of empty beer bottles lying around your backyard.

 

    We recommended pairing our Belgian White Chocolate Magnum Ice Cream Bars with Michelle Blanc de Noir.  Noir is a dry sparkling wine with strawberry impressions coming through in the nose.  The initial impression is dry, with a soft and fruity aftertaste, perfect for pairing with white chocolate.

    We fell in love with the Magnum Gold?! Ice Cream Bars, and decided to pair them with a Banana Split Martini.
BANANA SPLIT MARTINI:
Serves 12

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 Cups Pinnacle Whipped Vodka
  • 6 oz Banana Liqeur
  • 3 Cups Creme de Cacao
  • 3 Cups French Vanilla Creamer
  • 6 Cups Ice
  • Garnish (vanilla frosting and gold sanding sugar)

Directions:


Prepare martini glass by rimming with frosting, and rolling the rim of your glass in the gold sanding sugar.

Combine ingredients in large drink dispenser, stir well, and chill in the fridge for at least an hour. Serve and enjoy!

The Fun:

 
We made it casual for socializing and mingling, by laying out a couple picnic blankets and comfy pillows.
