DIY: J.Crew inspired Tassel Earrings

It’s time to start making Holiday gifts! We decided to start a series of hand made Holiday gift ideas to help you fill the stockings of the ones you love, without draining your bank account.
The first one is Tassel Earrings! Inspired by the always fabulous J.Crew, I thought I’d add a little more fun to earrings I already had…double the tassel, double to fun…or something like that.
Here is my inspiration…sigh
What you will need to make your own:
1. I used yarn, but upon further review, a softer and silkier cording would have made for a more polished look. (I got my yarn at Michaels Craft Store, and they have the other cording as well.)
2. Earrings…something that sparkles is always nice.
3. Cardboard, or something sturdy to wrap the yarn around.  It needs to be the right size.  I lucked out with post-its, but cardboard is more customizable.
4. Scissors.
First I wrapped a piece on the yarn around the earring on me, so that I could choose the length I wanted.
Next I chose how thick a tassel I wanted.  I went for long and thin, but if I had used a thinner cording, then I would have made a 16 – 20 strand tassel.  This one was 6 loops, which made a 12 strand tassel.
Now you’ve upcycled some old earrings, and you can give them as a gift or keep them for your own Holiday cheer!
