Makeup Tips to look flawless in photos!

To kick off our “Wedding March” we asked our beautiful friend, and makeup artist to the stars, Emily Oliver, to share her secrets on the best beauty products, and tips/tricks to looking flawless in photos!

Q: What are your favorite go to beauty products?
A: My favorite go to beauty products are more on the high end because I need high performing long wearing cosmetics for my clients.  I LOVE Luminous Silk Foundation by Giorgio Armani, and use it almost exclusively as my foundation base for red carpet and runway.  Chanel black waterproof eyeliner is a MUST have so I can create specific looks without the fear of eyeliner running, or smudging.  I have recently been introduced to Isadora Cosmetics (a European based line), and can’t stop wearing their mascara.  It’s amazing.  Eva Mendez’s line, CIRCA (carried in Walgreens) is my new go to lip.  The lip is so wearable, and photographs amazingly.

Q: What is the one thing you can’t live without?
A: For my being? Faith/compassion.  Faith in people, myself, and that we are exactly where we need to be.  I truly believe the most beautiful people in the world are the most compassionate.
However, if we are talking cosmetics, a fantastic brow pencil (Hourglass!) and mascara (Isadora!) I can’t pair anything down to one choice!!!

Q: What are your best tips/tricks for makeup that is going to be photographed?
A: My best tips/tricks for make up that is going to be photographed starts with skin.  Make sure skin is exfoliated, moisturized, and eye cream is slathered!  Don’t forget to prep the lips as well with your favorite chapstick!  I like to work with eyes before foundation so my make up keeps incredibly clean, and fall out is less present.  I almost exclusively use waterproof eyeliner and mascara for photo-shoots.  This ensures my work will stay put! For foundation, make sure to match to the body, and blend down and around the neck (don’t forget those ears).  Usually, the client/model’s body is deeper in color than the face (due to sun screen), so it’s pivotal to make sure the color is consistent.  Apply bronzer, highlight, and blush, and take a flat brush after to buff it into the skin to make it look more like skin and less like product.

Q: Anything else we should know?

A: Beauty is how you feel when you are at your best.  Full make up or none (and everything in-between) if you feel gorgeous wearing it, rock it out!

Thank you for all of those amazing tips, Emily! Now, if you will excuse me, I need to go shopping ;).
