Happy April! It’s another month, and another season (though in New York it doesn’t quite feel like it yet).
I feel like I have been trying to make big changes all year, and nothing seems to be sticking. I constantly think of the quote, “If the devil can’t make you bad, he’ll make you busy.” Because it’s true, and I have never been more busy in my life (and that’s saying a lot!).
Of course I’m not saying that the incredible windfall of work I’ve received is from the devil. God has provided for me and my husband in amazing ways since we took our leap of faith to move to New York and start a new life out East, but I do feel like God is continuing to give me dreams and ideas that I just don’t have the time to chase, and as a result I feel like I’m failing. I want to do all the things. Start all the companies. Collaborate with all of the amazing people.
But this is a season of work. Work to initiate myself into a new city. Work to support my husband through grad school. Work to pay the bills.
My change is to stop beating myself up and work to carve out a little time each day for one dream, and see where it leads. Baby steps. and wait. I think that’s what I’m supposed to learn right now. Hard work and patience. I will keep as many plates spinning as I possibly can, and follow as many paths as I feel lead to walk. I will just do it little by little.
I want to encourage you to make the changes, dream the dreams, do the things! If that is your season, MAKE IT HAPPEN! But sometimes “the change” is actually a change of expectation. Forward motion is forward. It might not be as fast as you’re used to going, but don’t give up. Keep trying to change. Keep trying to eat healthy, workout, save money, chase the dream, change the world. Don’t give up. I believe in you. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
One foot in front of the other and just keep moving. Who knows what this new season may bring.
