It is our pleasure to introduce you to Fatim Bahh. A woman’s clothing line with a big mission.
The Republic of Guinea has one of the worst literacy rates in all of Africa. Out of a population of 11.75 million only 34% of girls in this rural community complete their primary school and only 22.8% of the total Guinean female population above the age of 15 can read and write.
Primary school in Guinea is 8 years and most of children do not complete it. Many females are kept out of school to help their mothers take care of the family or help with domestic work or agriculture.
One Girl At A Time Foundation is working with an elementary, public school in Kassa, Guinea one of the poorest rural area of the country to help provide education for young girls. 10% of each purchase from Fatim Bahh clothing line is donated to One Girl At A Time. In addition to financial contributions, they send school supplies (purchased and donated) to their team in Kassa who ensures proper distribution of funds and supplies.
There is a quote, “If you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a family (nation)”
-Dr. James Emman.
I’m not sure if I completely agree with that, but I do appreciate it’s sentiment. I think men, and women, have an incredible potential to lead, create, raise, teach, change and they both should be given the opportunity to see that potential realized.
Thank you Faitm Bahh, for allowing us to partner with you to share the work you are doing to give hope, knowledge, and empowerment through education to one girl at a time.
